[Strongsville, OH — February 4, 2019]...Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery North America, Inc. today announced Phase One of its 2019 Expansion Plan in support of the U.S. injection molding market. Phase One of the company's plan includes the move to a new, larger facility and Tech Center in the Atlanta area. The 74,000 sq ft facility, which will open February 25, 2019, is almost triple the size of the Norcross, GA, facility that it will replace. Read more...

The parts are being molded using a Sansyu FineTool (Takahama City, Japan) single-cavity cold-runner mold on loan from micro molder Makuta Technics of Shelbyville, Indiana. Molded of high-flow PP,the tubes' wall thickness is just 0.250 mm over the 12 mm length cone and the parts weigh a mere 0.055 grams each.Read more...

[Orlando, FL — May 7, 2018]...To open its NPE 2018 exhibit, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery North America, Inc. demonstrated fast-cycle, high-cavitation caps molding on its ultra-high-speed El-Exis SP hybrid. Molding over 130,000 caps per hour, a waterfall of 72 caps is ejected from the z-moulds hot runner mold on a sub 2-second cycle. Sumitomo (SHI) Demag announced today that it will team up with several key partners at NPE 2015 to "meet or beat" the world-record the company set for water bottle cap production in 2014. Exhibiting in NPE Booth W623, Sumitomo Demag will run an El-Exis SP 420 molding a 29/25 water bottle cap with tamperevident band molded by mechanical slides. The high-precision, 96-cavity hot-runner mold is being supplied by Plastisud (NPE Booth W7550). The lightweight 1.2-gram HDPE caps are designed for still (non-carbonated) water. The mold was specially designed and built by Plastisud, France, to achieve consistent high-precision parts at an ultrahigh- speed cycle while still using the conventional, proven method of part ejection utilizing clamp and ejector stroke. An SE30DUZ direct-drive all-electric equipped with the SL Screw assembly will mold a 0.524-gram gear that rotates the surgical blade in the new I-core Capsulorrhexis Instrument from ECC. [Strongsville, OH — December 16, 2014]...Sumitomo (SHI) Demag announced today that it will introduce the SE-EV-HD all-electric to the North American market at NPE 2015, March 23 - 27 in Orlando (Booth W623). The new high-duty (HD) models of its flagship SE-EV Series are specifically designed for thicker-walled parts including complex parts with a combination of thin and thick walls.
